Land Use, Environmental, and Real Estate Development

AGC has substantial experience in nearly all facets of land use and environmental law. The Firm serves as legal counsel to numerous public agencies, planning commissions, historic preservation commissions, planning departments, as well as private developers, corporations, homeowners and individuals, while also serving as litigation counsel in lawsuits both challenging and defending land use regulations and environmental issues. The Firm's expertise includes zoning and planning law, Subdivision Map Act compliance entitlement processing and litigation, land use permits, and related land use matters. AGC is also one of only a handful of public agency firms in California engaged in the complex area of First Amendment law in the land use context, having advised municipalities and private clients on the regulation of adult businesses, signage, and advertising, and having litigated those matters when such regulations were challenged.

AGC's attorneys have a wealth of experience in all aspects of environmental law, from CEQA compliance and environmental review of development projects; to toxic cleanup and hazardous material litigation under CERCLA and RCRA; to general environmental compliance under the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and other regulatory statutes. The Firm's unique combination of transactional experience enables AGC to provide not only general legal advice to agencies on planning and land use issues, but also litigation advocacy on nearly every aspect of land use or environmental law.

The Firm's private sector clients enjoy the advantage of its public sector experience. Knowledge of the inside workings of public land use entitlement processing and a feel for local politics allow AGC to start clients' projects one step ahead.

AGC's broad experience in the land use and environmental law fields set it apart from other firms practicing in these complex and varied fields. The Firm's attorneys have represented a wide range of clients in these fields, from public to private sector developers to small business owners to non-profit organizations. Whatever our client's background might be, ACG's attorneys have the experience to understand their goals and the expertise to achieve them.
